A religion major requires 32 credits (normally 8 or more courses) from courses in the lists below, and must include:
at least 16 credits (typically four courses) from courses numbered 200 or greater studying religious traditions,
which must include: (a) at least 8 credits from a single “primary” religious tradition and (b) a minimum of 8 credits from courses studying religious traditions outside the chosen primary religious tradition.
at least 4 credits (typically one course) from the following list of courses dealing with religion in contemporary culture:

an additional eight elective credits, which could include additional religious traditions courses, comparative courses, or a course from the following list:
a Reflective Journal entry for each course after declaring the major,
and attendance at department colloquium events (1-2 per year)
Notes:
- One 100-level course or a first-year seminar on a religious topic may contribute to major requirements, subject to approval from the department.
- Two two-credit courses taught by members of the Religion department may also be considered as a single course for meeting major requirements.
