AST-200 Introduction to Asian Studies

This course is an introduction to the interdisciplinary study of Asia as a region. In this course, we will begin with and keep returning to two basic questions, What is Asia and What does it mean to study Asia? In so doing, the course will explore Orientalism, the diversity and unity of Asia, and the concept of Area Studies. The course will include lectures from a wide array of Asian Studies faculty from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. 4 credits.
